Out, of the office

I'm off to Mystic #3 today, my ride up to CT should be here any moment, and I don't expect to get back until this evening late. It's going to be a great day, and I can't wait.

I had a great post all lined up for today, complete with a me on YouTube, but I chickened out because I think I looked like an idiot. We'll see if I feel like less of an idiot later and perhaps I'll repost the video and publish the blog.

Teeth, and other great finds

Did you know that the Library of Congress has begun an archiving project on Flickr (a photo sharing forum)? I combed their flickr account for a great photo for this post, and voila, what did I find? A photo of George Washington's teeth!

Crazy! Those don't look very comfortable, and I daresay that dentures have come a long way in the past hundred and fifty years!

The purpose of the Library of Congress' pilot project is to share photos that otherwise wouldn't have been seen, gain a better understanding of web 3.0 and online communities like Flickr, and tap into our abilities to help identify and tag photos in their collection.

So if you're into history, are a photo buff, or just curious. Surf through their account and leave a comment on a favorite photo, or tag a image to help others when using the search feature. :)

Matt & Mary, engaged

Last November Mary, Matt & I ducked into NYC’s Central Park for an Engagement Session, it was (dare I say it) bitter cold, and we were lucky to survive those few short hours without major loss of limb or digits due to frostbite.

Matt & Mary were definitely troopers. They are a darling couple, very much in love, and were fun to work with. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

Some of my favorite benches in Central Park (near the Bandshell), I love the couple in the background of the photo.

Aren’t they a darling couple? :)

Note To Self: post on blog

Have you ever stalled out? Not so much that you don’t know what to do, but that you have so much to do that it pulls you in all directions?

Well, that’s been me over the past few weeks. I have several drafts of posts for the blog, but no photos to go with them so I can’t post them (because of course all posts need photos), and I have gorgeous photos that are calling out to be posted, but they need verbiage to go with them.

Of course then there is the day job, the writing, the photo sessions for clients, the prepping for my trip to New Zealand (I’m shooting a wedding for a very good friend on Feb. 29th).

And there you go, it all adds up so quickly that when push comes to shove, one thing gets shunted to the side, -- and dare I say it dear valued readers, the most important -- the blog.

*sigh.*

I’d like to do better; I’ll try to do better. I can’t promise my posts will be as witty or up to par, but they’ll be here (more regularly).

Starting today, yet again, I resolve to post more often. :) So without further ado, I give you a new post.

An engagement session I shot back in November for a great couple Matt & Mary.

p.s. Oh, and thanks for the emails & posts reminding me that the blog is a priority and that you’re all waiting breathlessly to hear the latest happenings in the life of a NYC photo-lovin’-fiction-writing-foodie. (More food posts coming soon.)

Copyright, in the digital age

I wanted to pass along this very interesting, funny, and insightful look into copyright in the digital age, by Larry Lessig.

It's, hot outside

So this afternoon I strolled to my local bank during my lunch hour and promptly began to sweat bullets. I unwound the green pashmina from around my neck, tucked my black jacket through the straps of my handbag, pushed the sleeves on my sweater up, and actively searched for shade. Yes, it's hot outside. What's up with the crazy weather?

I couldn't help but think of several moments just a few short days ago when I was bundled up with my winter parka, freezing my hiney off in 12 degree weather (not including the brutal wind that crept through he seams and zippers of my coat and turned my skin a pretty red), while showing NYC touristy sights to my fam.

Bad thing about last week: I had to battle crowds that were enormous due to the influx of holiday visitors.

Good thing about last week: I found a fabulous new BBQ place down in Times Square. (Thanks for the heads up Fern & Lmac.) I'll blog about it later, once I get over the fact that it's not located on the Upper West Side. . .
